On Tuesday, 29 March 2016, public transportation (buses) was on the roads of Vathi (the capital city of Samos). So, an old service is applied, once again, in Samos, facilitating people and providing solutions to the traffic problems of the city.
Following many years of absence, on Tuesday, 29 March 2016, the piloted program was finally materialized. In accordance with the approved traffic study for Vathi, we believe that this public transportation initiative will facilitate traffic and reduce traffic congestion in the city overall. We also believe that the creation of the appropriate infrastructure for alternative methods of transportation will, eventually, lead to the creation of new actions, more organization opportunities, and improved accessibility to the city center, thus encouraging “detox” from private cars and emphasizing transportation through environmentally friendly means.
The starting point of the buss-lines is Malagari port.
The first line starts at 08:00 and stops at 14:00, with the following intermediate stops: EOSS, Zacharakis’s Stand, Urban Busses Stop, Pythagoras Square, Piraeus Bank, Commercial Port, Hospital, SOA, Gagou beach. Return: Hospital, Commercial Port, Piraeus Bank, Xenia, Tennis Court, Malegari Port, DEDDIE, Hagia Irini, Agios Charalambos, Potamaki, Naples, Pefkakia, Malegari. Average waiting time is about 15 minutes.
