Samos is one of the islands that I have visited several times in the past. However, is one of the islands that I fully understood just few days ago!
One week was sufficient enough to “plow” the villages and the beauties of this earthly paradise, of course with the “assistance” of a car and a bike. We just wanted to form a complete picture of the homeland of Pythagoras, Aristarchus, and Epicurus.
Samos is a green island, as if it is a piece of paradise! Its eastern coasts feels the “breath” of Turkey’s opposite rocky coast, since these are a few hundred meters away!
In recent months, Samos is an island under “siege” by hundreds of thousands of refugees and illegal immigrants who arrive in its eastern coasts (mainly) on board unsafe boats from the coasts of Turkey and live in the local “Hot Spot” (located in the main harbor) until they are transferred to Piraeus (Athens) on board the ship “Mykonos Island” of the Hellenic Seaways.
