Platanos

Platanos is located 4 km south of the village Konteika and about 10 km southeast of Karlovassi. The village is west of mount Kerkis, north of the sea of Karlovassi and south of the sea of Marathokampos.

The view is excellent to the west and the south.

The imperious size of mount Kerkis impresses with its villages perched on its slopes and the view of the southwestern coast of Samos, the islands of Fournoi and the Dodecanesous islands is very relaxing. One of the oldest houses indicates the year of 1641.

The village, according to the tradition, inhabited by Eviotes colonists and it is named from the many plane trees that existed before in the region.
The water is wonderful and so there is a song that says: “I wish I had some water from the Platanos, grape from the Colona“.

The residents of the village deal mainly with agriculture, especially the cultivation of the vine.

The road leads, with constant and steep turns up, to the beltway of Karlovassi-Pythagorio-Samos.

One of the most beautiful spots in the village is the large square with the huge plane trees and the traditional cafes and restaurants which serve local cuisine.
