Mesogio

Mesogeio is located south of Pandrosos and its old name was ‘Kato Arvanites’. It was founded by some descendants of the village ‘Ano Arvanites’ (Pandrosos).

The region is fascinating, although in winter is extremely cold. “The people of ‘Kato Arvanites’ can boast that bred a man ignorant and primitive, but paradox, intelligent, mocker and ironic.” The man was the village’s priest Kougothanasis Evangelinos, whom glory was spread across Samos as writer of newspaper “Samiaka” Epaminondas Stamatiadis tells.

East of the village, on a hill called Kastraki, were founded old cyclopean walls and near those, were found traces of village and a wide mouthedwaterjug with lots of attic coins.

The inhabitants of the village are basically farmers but there are few loggers and ranchers.
The two main products of Mesogeio are oil and wine.
The overall appearance of the village is quite good and testifies the nobility and the progress of its inhabitants. The municipal court of Mesogeio is constituted by the Church of Zoodochou Pigi, the chapels of Agios Konstantinos, Agioi Pantes, Agios Dimitrios, Agios Georgios and the Prophet Elijah.
